Authentic Asian grocery store 99 Ranch Market is opening a new location in Westwood, located at 1364 S. Westwood Blvd.

Founder/ CEO Roger H. Chen first opened 99 Ranch Market, otherwise known as Tawa Supermarket, in 1984 from Bueno Park. Now, he gets ready to move into the former home of Ross Dress for Less in May 2022, according to documents submitted to the Los Angeles Planning Department. The project also consists of the repurpose of a 49,393 square-foot shopping center building into a grocery store, of which 1,854 square feet will be an unknown restaurant with 1,036 square-foot of outdoor dining.

The grocery store will occupy two levels, while the restaurant and outdoor eating area will be located along the upper level. The proposed restaurant will provide 73 seats inside the grocery store as well as offer an uncovered outdoor eating area with 44 seats. Although which restaurant will sit in this space is unknown, the establishment has requested a liquor license to allow the sale and dispensing of beer and wine for on-site consumption. The menu on the second floor restaurant is expected to serve as a quick-service restaurant.

99 Ranch Market now has over 60 locations across California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Texas, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Virginia. All locations focus on a wide selection of Asian and American alcoholic beverages and groceries. The majority of 99 Ranch Markets have a full-service take-out deli serving a combination of Cantonese, Taiwanese, and Szechuan meals. It is unknown if this new 99 Ranch Market will have one of these delis.
