Hard Honey — a company boasting beverages with the drinkability and smoothness of a seltzer but the health benefits of a hard kombucha — will soon come to Los Angeles, according to a liquor license filed with The State of California.

According to Founder Collin McKenna, the company will source its honey from a regenerative bee farm in Brazil, a nature preserve for the bees and the rainforest. The product will be organic, non-GMO, keto, and gluten-free (pending).

Hard Honey aims to support bee farms that treat bees respectfully while also helping the prolific pollinators thrive. The company also backs “the true heroes” in saving the bees: farmers.

Before Hard Honey, McKenna lived in Hawaii where, as a high school student, he thrived in environmental science courses. From there, he traveled to San Diego to achieve a degree in business. Eventually, the head of Hard Honey combined doing good for the planet with his desire to build a business, resulting in The Crated Company.

Crated was a zero-waste delivery company that made cold-pressed juices and nut milk with regenerative organic produce deemed imperfect.

The company would then deliver the beverages and “ugly” produce in crates and glass bottles to subscribers from LA to San Diego. However, when Covid hit, customers became uncomfortable with Crated’s reusable-receptacle model, and the company was forced to cease operation.

Thankfully, Mckenna tells WNLA that Hard Honey is expected to debut in March 2023.
