Dee Gupta is bringing Siblings Bakery to Thousand Oaks in a neighborhood she says has been lacking in a proper bakery. The previous tenant, the popular Jaime Cakes, shut down — but this allowed Siblings Bakery to soon take over the mantle of the go-to cake and pastry shop in the local area.

Siblings Bakery will take over this very space in the Village Plaza, at 1625 E Thousand Oaks Blvd, as quickly as November. Siblings Bakery already has a shop opened up in Ventura, even though Gupta is a Thousand Oaks native who wanted her home to be her first-ever location. “Our community really needs a bakery,” Gupta told What Now Los Angeles.

According to Gupta, after Jaime Cakes closed its doors, the owner paid more than one visit to Siblings Bakery and expressed a love for Gupta’s baked goods. Thus, Gupta found her new location in Thousand Oaks where Jaime Cakes once existed.

Gupta’s knack for baking started at the age of four. Despite monetary struggles, her parents gave her all the resources they could to grow this love of baking into a full-fledged talent. Gupta went on to take classes on French Patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu School in Pasadena, where she achieved a 4.0 GPA.

Gupta quit baking, following some hardships. It wasn’t until her husband talked her into making her son’s birthday cake that she got back into it. This ultimately led up to baking classes at her son’s elementary school. After that, more schools began hiring her, and soon she was teaching about 500 students in total. This is where she branched out into opening up her own bakery, Siblings Bakery.

Siblings Bakery’s menu focuses on things like cakes, cake pops, macaroons, and other dessert items — all of which are customizable to the desire of the customer and their occasion. Gupta also does wedding cakes. Thousand Oaks will be Siblings Bakery’s second location overall, but their first full retail location. Gupta hopes to open up a future Siblings Bakery location in Simi Valley.
