Connie’s Chicken, known for its chicken, biscuits, and blueberry donuts, is getting ready to expand throughout the Northern Mississippi region.
Founded in 1978 by Constantine Asters and his older son, Mike, Connie’s Chicken has been a staple to the Tupelo community. After Mike Asters passed away, his younger brother, Jay, sold the business to Nickle Smith and Tres Brasell of Oxford. The new owners are now planning to expand the restaurant to West Point in the former home of KFC, opening in a few weeks, according to the Daily Journal. A new Oxford location will take several months to build and will be near Popeyes’ on Jackson Ave.
On top of the two planned locations, Connie’s Chicken is also scouting new locations in Batesville, Grenada, and New Albany. The new sites will be open for dinner, a feature not seen at the Tupelo location. The new owners plan to eventually open the original location for dinner service.
Until these new locations open and the company expands its hours of service, customers can expect plenty of chicken options, including tenders, by-the-pieces, and sandwiches. The restaurant also offers family packs and kid’s meals. For breakfast, Connie’s Chicken offers plenty of biscuit sandwiches, as well as gravy and biscuits, and its famous blueberry donut for only $1.50.
