A downtown Memphis fixture known for its pub grub, lengthy beer list, and karaoke Thursdays has gone dark.

A sign was recently spotted on the doors of Local on Main Street stating that the establishment has “closed momentarily.” The notice encourages customers to visit its sister restaurant, Madison Tavern (formerly Local on the Square).

Although What Now Memphis was unable to reach owners Tim and Tarrah Quinn for comment, an employee of the 95 South Main St eatery told The Commercial Appeal that the Quinns have closed to “rebrand and liven up the commercial Main Street atmosphere.”

The employee also stated that staff members were offered positions at Madison Tavern if they wished to stay with the company during the transition.

As a popular spot for lunch, brunch, and dinner, the Local on Main Street menu featured casual options like burgers, sandwiches, tacos, and baked pretzels. It remains unclear whether or not the menu will receive a refresh upon reopening.

Currently, the Local on Main Street website is down, and there have been no social media updates regarding the closure. Stay tuned for further details.
