Ralph “RJ Groove” Johnson, owner of Plant Based Heat restaurant, plans to open a new location, known as Plant Based Heat Express, at 363 S. Front St.

Johnson opened his first restaurant, Plant Based Heat, two years ago, and hopes the new concept will fill a much-needed gap for to-go vegan meals.

“It’s actually a smaller location, but we’ll have a lot of our menu items ready to serve,” Johnson tells What Now Memphis.

He plans to offer delivery, ready-to serve to-go orders, and prepared meals to be heated at home.

The vegan menu will be different from Plant Based Heat, embracing plenty of fresh ideas, including baked and air fried fare, pizza, chicken salad and tuna salad. It will also feature a few fan favorites from Plant Based Heat, like burgers and “vings” (vegan wings).

“We pride ourselves in offering delicious vegan comfort food and great customer service!” reads the website.
