A longstanding Memphis barbecue chain is set to open another location in Mississippi.
According to The Daily Corinthian, Corinth’s building and codes department last week issued a remodeling permit for Tops Bar-B-Q. The new eatery will occupy the former site of Popeyes at 1202 S Cass St, at the corner of U.S. Highway 72.
This positive development comes on the heels of a recent fire at Tops’ Summer Ave location. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident; however, that site remains closed indefinitely as damage is assessed and repairs are made.
Founded in 1952 by J.W. Lawson, Tops Bar-B-Q is an award-winning restaurant chain known for its Memphis-style barbecue and burgers served in a casual, fast-food setting.
The chain currently operates 16 locations throughout the Greater Memphis area, including eateries in Frayser, Cordova, Bartlett, Millington, Southaven, Olive Branch, and Marion.
The Corinth restaurant is still in its early stages, and Tops CEO Randy Hough has not yet announced any specifics, including an opening date.
