First opened in Spain in the year 2000, 100 Montaditos has hundreds of locations in that country, and will soon have six operating here in South Florida as well. The franchise is now looking to expand with another new outpost near the intersection of Southwest 87th Avenue and Coral Way, at 8565 SW 24th St.
At the center of the menu (and the name) are the brand’s varieties of the montadito, a sandwich described on the 100 Montaditos website as “a staple of the culinary arts from Spain… unique tapa-sized rolls of bread similar to a baguette but wider…” And the name isn’t an exaggeration: there are a hundred of them.
They come as Original Montaditos like 02 Chorizo, Fresh Tomato and Olive Oil and 10 Guava and Cream Cheese, or Classic Montaditos like 13 Serrano Ham and Manchego Cheese, 36 BBQ Pulled Pork, Cream Cheese and Aioli, and 76 Goat Cheese, Fresh Tomato, and Honey Mustard. Numbers 81-90 are Gourmet Montaditos like 86 Spanish Burger: Burger, Cheddar Cheese, Jamon Serrano, and Mayo, all served on Chapata bread; and 91-95 are Mighty Montaditos like 92 CUBANO: Turkey, Garlic Pork, Manchego Cheese and Mustard.
For dessert, numbers 96-100 are Sweet Montaditos like 96 Nutella with Almonds and 100 Peanut Butter with Oreo.
What Now confirmed the news of the opening on Monday with Managing Director Ignacio García Nieto on Monday. García Nieto said the Coral Way location does not yet have a projected opening date.
EDITOR’S NOTE: A previous version of this article stated that the Coral Way location will be 100 Montaditos’ fourth in South Florida. It will be the sixth.
