A family-run place for exquisite pasta is coming to Sunset Harbour — direct from Italy by way of New York City.
A Pasta Bar has been a sensation since it opened in New York’s trendy Soho neighborhood in 2017. For nearly a decade, people have given the restaurant rave reviews for its homemade pastas and authentic sauces made with recipes that have been handed down through generations.
Now, Miami Beach will get to experience the restaurant when A Pasta Bar opens in Sunset Harbour, at 1784 West Avenue, this May.
A Pasta Bar’s co-founder Andrea Pedrazzoli tells What Now Miami that A Pasta Bar is, first and foremost, a family business. “That really defines us as a restaurant. My father Nicola and his business partner, Simone and I take care of business. My mother, Esther, is the one leading the kitchen. When we opened, I started as a busboy. The entire family is passionate about the project.” So passionate, in fact, that the family moved from New York City to Miami Beach in order to learn about the community they hope to be a part of.
That passion translates into the dishes, made with family recipes and the finest ingredients. “Italian cuisine is in the simplicity of the ingredients and making sure every dish elevates those ingredients. You don’t need more than that. The focus is on seasonal ingredients and great execution,” says Pedrazzoli. In Miami Beach, the core pasta menu will be enhanced with a few secondi. “In New York, the menu is 100 percent pasta. In Miami, the star of the show will continue to be pasta, however, you’ll also have the option of ordering a ribeye or a cotoletta,” he adds.
Another feature of the restaurant will be the open kitchen and chef’s counter where guests can interact with the chefs and watch them in action, similar to an omakase experience. “That’s something innovative in Italian cuisine. We’re trying to be very innovative with the technique, yet simple in the recipes,” says the restaurateur.
When it opens, first and foremost, Pedrazzoli wants A Pasta Bar to be a neighborhood restaurant. “We want to create a community, and the only way to do that is to make a great product every single time. We also want you to feel comfortable while at the same time making it feel like a bit of a night out. We’re very good at making you feel at home.”
