Founded in 1975 in Deerfield Beach, Bob’s Pizza & Amante’s Italian Cuisine has been a generational mainstay for pizza and Italian food in the area. And this fall, Amante’s will be opening in a brand new location—at 2009 NE Second Street, according to submitted plan review paperwork.
“We put our heart into this place and soon, you’ll taste it,” says a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “Amantes opening soon in Deerfield Beach, just across [from] our old home!”
In its previous form, the Amante’s menu featured entrees ranging from Beef & Veal dishes like Veal Francese and Veal Parmigiana to Seafood dishes like Snapper Livornese and Grouper Oreganata. There’s also a wide variety of pasta dishes, including Eggplant Rollatini, Gnocchi Della Nonna, and Lobster Ravioli. Details on the menu at the new location are not yet available.
The restaurant’s website tells the story of the two concepts, Bob’s Pizza and Amante’s Italian Cuisine:
My father and mother, Nunzio and Sara Amante, saw an opportunity for our family and they took it. What is now Bob’s Pizza was a breakfast and lunchette with two tables with enough room for four customers. My parents didn’t speak English and had a very hard time communicating with anyone. So it was up to my sisters and I, Bob Amante to help with talking with customers, distributors and anyone else! All four of us would go to school and then come home to work; my sisters were servers and I would help my mom and dad with cooking…
In the early 1980’s we decided to expand and build a dining room adjacent to the pizzeria. Adding chicken, veal and seafood to our menu was the best thing that could have happened. It transformed our small two table pizzeria into a white table cloth restaurant offering authentic Southern Italian style fine dining.
What Now reached out to Bob Amante this week to ask about plans for the new Amante’s. Amante was not immediately available for comment. What Now is awaiting more details on the move: are Bob’s Pizza and Amante’s Italian going to have separate homes? Or are both moving? Is Bob’s Pizza being absorbed into the Amante’s Brand?
