Hoy Como Ayer, a longtime Little Havana hub for Latin music in Miami, is under new ownership.

Chef/restaurateur Michael Beltran is taking the reins of the beloved spot, located at 2212 SW Eighth Street. Ariete Hospitality Group, helmed by Beltran, is partnering with Ear Candy Music to keep the integrity of the venue’s musical programming with the goal of positioning it to step into the future with excellent management and enhanced hospitality.

The immediate transition will be seamless, with the venue not skipping a beat and continuing to host its regular programming such as Friday and Saturday Salsa nights in the main room.

In the future, La Sala (also known as the Eagle Room) next door will transform into a yet-to-be-announced venue. For now, the space will be reserved for private parties and events.

The acquisition is something chef Beltran takes to heart. His restaurant portfolio ranges from fast-casual burger joint, Chuggie’s to Michelin-starred Ariete.

With Hoy Como Ayer, he continues his love and respect for the Miami culture he grew up with. “As a Miami native, one thing I’ve always made my mission is to try to speak to the real Miami through our food and hospitality group, which serves to honor, preserve and evolve the authentic parts of our beautiful city,” he said in a press release, adding, “I love this space, this neighborhood and, most of all, what it means to so many of us Miami natives,” explained Beltran. “The DNA of Hoy Como Ayer will remain, and we are focused on honoring its legacy through intentional food and beverage programming.”
