Growing indoor golf entertainment concept Five Iron Golf is continuing on a streak of growth that has taken it across North America and into Asia and Australia with a development deal poised to bring at least 12 locations to the state of Florida in the next four years.

The company has announced a deal signed with Peter McCormick and Alex Zega—the brand’s first U.S. franchisees, who currently operate Five Iron Golf in Louisville, Kentucky—that will take the brand into “key Florida markets, including Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Coconut Grove, and St. Petersburg,” the press release says.

What Now reached out to McCormick on Thursday to inquire about plans for the opening in Miami.

“We’re actively seeking sites right now,” McCormick said. “Based on the Miami permitting process, that’s about 4 to 6 months from what I hear. My hope is that by the third quarter we’re building. And construction doesn’t take long, so we’re hoping by the end of the year to have two open in Miami.”

Five Iron Golf’s golf simulators feature state-of-the-art Trackman technology and high-speed cameras, making for a great practice session or hangout. There are also golf lessons and special events, plus an eclectic food and drink menu.

“A new menu was crafted over the last year—we were the first to roll it out [in Louisville] in October—and it’s really good. It’s got a very diverse array of food offerings. I like to say it’s what you experience walking down the street in Manhattan. It’s Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Mexican, traditional American—a very diverse collection of items.”

On the drinks side, you may find some of that Kentucky influence, with a lot of bourbon being poured, McCormick adds.

“To be along for the ride and witness the evolution of what Five Iron Golf is becoming is really exciting. Louisville has had a great last four months as we’ve invested heavily in getting the word out. It’s a great place to practice all year round.”
