“We’re going to be doing smashburgers and waffle fries, and we’re really pushing our Smash Boxes, which are like a party pack of burgers: a 5-pack, a 10-pack, a 20-pack,” owner & chef Antonio Siqueira, who is opening Burger James in partnership with Juwan Hunter, told What Now on Friday. “Everything is fresh, never frozen, 100% American beef.”

Chef Siqueira has worked in restaurants all over Miami and has even worked with smashburgers before, having launched a smashburger brand in Salem, Oregon with Hunter during the days of COVID.

The new restaurant will open in a vibrant space full of art by Miami artists, with seating for about 30 guests, and several self-service kiosks. There’s a also a chef’s bar where early comers can interact with the chef at work. Burger James’s smashburgers in form of the Single, the Double, and the Triple OG Smash. There’s also a Vegan Smash and a Chicken Sandwich on this streamlined, no-frills menu.

“Right now, people are having to drive out to Wynwood for smashburgers,” Siqueira said. “We’re doing something for the people, not making people pay too much. It’s a lot of love, a lot of passion going into it. So look out for us. We’re going to be doing a lot of the major events in South Florida in the coming year.”
