On North Federal Highway, between Northeast 24th and 25th Streets, a new coffee-shop-meets-computer-repair-shop is preparing to open. Byte & Coffee will open at 2424 North Federal Highway.
“We come from the coffee crazed city of Melbourne (Australia) that has more coffee shops per person than any other city on the planet,” owner Catherine Basilone told What Now in an email conversation on Friday. “We will be bringing to Lighthouse Point a new concept of having two businesses incorporated into one; a coffee shop and a computer repair shop where you can go for all your computer needs. We are not an internet cafe!”
The inspiration behind the project, Basilone says, is “the Aussie experience of having a local coffee shop where you can walk in and feel like you have gone home. Where the staff know you by your name and know what coffee you drink.”
The menu features smashed avocado on toast, class Aussie meat pie, sausage rolls, and pasties, plus cakes, pastries, lamingtons, caramel slices, and Tim Tams. (“This is only a small taste of our offering,” add Basilone.)
In the future, Byte & Coffee also plans on adding wine and beer service with both local and Australian beers, along with charcuterie boards. Live music is in the offing too for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.
“We hope to provide the community with a friendly place to hang out, relax and catch up for a coffee and a chat,” Basilone said. “Come in and see Daniel and I, let’s talk coffee, good food, and anything else you want to chat about.”
