This month, Mandarin Oriental will be home to an exclusive popup event from Chef Bertrand Valegeas. Valegeas is the culinary force behind Oliviera, a restaurant at Mandarin Oriental’s sister property in Costa Navarino, Greece.
Called “Oliviera Unveiled,” the popup will be a “love letter to the culinary traditions of Greece, beginning with an assortment of small plates, including Melitzanosalata (charcoal eggplant with Xigalo cheese), Taramosalata (cod roe spread with bottarga), and Tzatziki (sheep yogurt with garlic and olive oil), each served with the traditional accompaniments of sourdough bread, fresh oregano, olive oil, grissini and pita bread,” says a press release published yesterday.
Main courses include Oliviera Moussaka, which features “slow-cooked beef cheeks, eggplant and velvety béchamel”; the vegetarian Faggri a la Polita, with artichokes, carrot and green peas; and Lobster “Critharoto.”
The popup will take place inside MO Bar + Lounge, from February 15 to 22 of this month.
“With ‘Oliviera Unveiled,’ I want to transport guests to Costa Navarino through every bite, sharing the incredible flavors, fresh ingredients and rich traditions that define Greek cuisine,” Chef Bertrand said in the press release. “It’s an honor to bring a taste of Oliviera and the Messenia to Miami at our shared home, the Mandarin Oriental.”
