Three years after closing New Vegan, Chef Rahein Jones is preparing to make a comeback with his next vegan and gluten-free concept, True Vegan. True Vegan, which will open this spring at 123 E Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, will feature old favorites from New Vegan plus some new items, including vegan pizza and vegan ice cream, the chef told What Now this weekend.
“I’m doing a full demo on the place, so everything will be brand new with outside seating, plus back patio seating,” Chef Rahein said. “We’re also going to launch our own delivery app. That’ll be something different: the first vegan delivery app.”
We’re not the only ones looking forward to the opening. You can almost hear saliva glands activating in a description published in a recent South Florida Sun-Sentinel roundup:
“Picture plant-based ingredients that turn tender barbecue, gooey burgers, and overflowing cheesesteaks into delicious gold,” the Sun-Sentinel coverage says, describing a “menu of vegan pizza and ice cream and beer and wine, alongside falafel pasta salads, a walnut brownie delight and a mushroom burger that won the Boca Burger Battle—twice.”
There will be plenty of space to sit, says Chef Rahein, but True Vegan will also be great to takeout, including curbside pickup, a highly successful practice that picked up during the COVID years.
