What Now reported back in July on Fire Pit Hospitality’s plans to expand its Palmetto Bay ice cream shop, Cry Baby Creamery, to a new location in West Kendall. Construction there has continued on-schedule, Cry Baby Creamery Owner and Head of Ops + Innovation Stephanie Diaz told What Now on Wednesday. It’s expected to open in November at 15707 SW 56th Street.

What we didn’t know at the time, however, was that a third location is already in the works for Cry Baby—Cry Baby Creamery #3 is working towards a December opening at 12700 SW 122nd Avenue in South Kendall, Diaz says.

“The third one will be the same concept: soft serve, cold brew,” said Diaz. “The menu will be the same as West Kendall in a space more or less the same size.”

The décor will be largely the same in both cases, too.

“It’s our black walls, our neon signs and red booths: décor is very Vegas-speakeasy, which is different. Our ice cream is remarkable—I stand by it as the best in Miami—but coming to Cry Baby is also about the whole experience, so we’re spending a long time getting that right.”

Current Seasonal Flavors from the Cry Baby Fall Collection include Brown Butter Pecan (brown butter ice cream with chunks of salty buttered pecans), Pumpkin Ooey Gooey (cinnamon vanilla ice cream with swirls of pumpkin spice caramel & chunks of pumpkin ooey gooey cake), and Bourbon Bread Pudding (bourbon ice cream with swirls of bourbon caramel & chunks of vanilla bread pudding). You can check them out in Palmetto Bay now while we wait for the West and South Kendall openings, both of which promise to be local-facing and community-centered.

“We don’t aim for tourist traps,” Diaz said. “We like to be members of the community in dense residential areas, where we can be your neighborhood ice cream shop.”
