At the end of a summer whose high points have been tempered by one sad closure after another, we’re now entitled to at least one sigh of relief. The Miami New Times reported back on August 1 on the upcoming demolition of the building at 7230 SW 59th Avenue to make way for a condo development. That demolition, it was then supposed, might mark the end of Deli Lane Cafe & Sunset Tavern, which has been a mainstay for the area at that location for more than 40 years.

This week, however, a follow-up piece announced that Deli Lane Cafe & Sunset Tavern will not, after all, be saying goodbye. Instead, the restaurant will relocate across the street. The switch is expected to occur next summer.

“[Founders] Jahn and Mike set out to open a restaurant that would serve top notch food at reasonable prices,” the Deli Lane website says, telling the story of the restaurant’s inception. “With plenty of years combined restaurant experience the two hoped Deli Lane would be the kind of place that folks would want to visit over and over again and that they would become a part of its community.”

And that’s exactly what it has been.

Deli Lane serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Its dinner menu features entrées like Steak Frites, Seared Salmon, Fish Tacos, Tortellini Alfredo and more. All Day Breakfast choices include Benedicts like the Tavern (croissant, smoked salmon, spinach leaves) and the Floridian (English muffin, avocado, smoked bacon, grilled tomato)—plus plenty of classic breakfast and brunch choices.

“The weekend brunch has become a must go for anyone passing through or staying in South Miami,” the website continues. “Also boasting unusual recipes of Soups, Salads, Sandwiches and Entrees that tantalize your tongue, satisfy your senses. If you have ever tried the Pressed Duck or the TB Grill you will certainly feel the love.”
