A new Caribbean restaurant is preparing to open its doors in Sunrise. Called Dolce Bistro, it’s opening at 3856 N University Dr, joining the retail center on the southeast corner of the intersection with Northwest 39th Street.

“We’re going to be doing Caribbean cuisine, also inspired by American, Haitian and Jamaican food,” owner John Dolce told What Now on Friday. Dolce says to look forward, especially, to the fried griot pork.

It’s Dolce’s second restaurant, after a previous project that focused on takeout. Now he’s preparing to launch his first sit-down place. Dolce Bistro will be a comfortable space with seating for 60 to 75 guests.

“It’s going to be a chill, loungey vibe. Upbeat,” says Dolce, who adds it’s too early yet to share more info. “Once we hit the ground running, we’ll have more details.”

Dolce Bistro joins Kababi Cafe by Kuluck and Velvet Lounge & Cafe, plus—just across the street—Fondo Típico Rinconcito Colombiano and Hooters.

Stay tuned for more details as they become available!
