With 17 locations in South Florida, Don Pan International Bakery is famous for flavors hailing from all over Latin America and Europe. Carlos Alvarez, President of CA Bread Group, a family business that Alvarez says been operating Don Pan locations for about twenty-five years, stressed this international aspect of the brand in a conversation with What Now on Wednesday.

“Sometimes I think people think of us as purely a Cuban bakery or Venezuelan bakery, but the name really is ‘International Bakery’ for a reason,” said Alvarez. “We strive to have foods from all over Latin America, which means Europe as well. We have desserts from French cuisine, from German cuisine, which we make there every day.”

And soon Don Pan will be serving up even more favorites from its menu in the South Florida market, as submitted plan review documents show a new location opening at 4996 N University Drive in Lauderhill, part of the University Shoppes retail center.

“It’s going to depend on permitting, but I would hope we could open within about three months,” Alvarez said.

Don Pan’s menus have featured Signature Bowls like the Chicken Avocado Bowl, Sandwiches, Breakfast Choices, Arepas, Cachapas, and more. It’s great place to pick up a baguette, Cuban bread, Guava & Cheese bread, or Pan de Jamon. It also offers a wide range of tempting dessert, including Tiramisu, Flan, Milhojas, and others.

“We’re looking forward to opening, hiring lot of people, and being part of the community for a long time to come,” said Alvarez.
