Some summer trends are more fun than others. One that we could maybe do without, though, is this year’s tendency toward summer closures on the part of Miami’s restaurants, even award-winning ones. The Miami New Times reported this week that New York-born Mexican restaurant Ensenada, which opened less than a year ago in the Vagabond Hotel at 7301 Biscayne Boulevard in Miami’s MiMo District, is one of them.
“Temporarily closed for the summer,” says an announcement on the restaurant’s Instagram page. “We’ll be taking a summer hiatus effective immediately, with plans to reopen after the season with changes to the concept.”
What Now reached out on Thursday to owner Bryce David to ask about the reopening timeline and for any possible details about what those “changes to the concept” might entail. David was not immediately available to comment.
Ensenada’s Miami location has offered a menu featuring entrees like Branzino Al Pastor (whole grilled branzino, pineapple butter and relish), Pollito Rostizado (1/2 roasted young chicken, chipotle piloncillo glaze, salsa seca, pickled fennel, mole verde, fennel, xo salsa seca), and Pork Carnitas (confit pork shoulder, fermented cabbage, chili dusted daikon radish, jus).
We’ll see what the menu looks like when Ensenada returns after the summer!
