Fluke Martini & Crudo Bar to Reopen in the Fall

The restaurant from Chef Mike Pirolo of Macchialina will return after a short break

“Gone fishing!” says a recent Instagram post published by Fluke Martini & Crudo Bar, the walk-in-only bar and restaurant from Chef Mike Pirolo, the culinary force behind restaurants like Macchialina and Bar Bucce. “We’ll be back Nov 5th.”

Fluke is now closed for the summer and early fall.

The restaurant sprung directly from the Macchialina concept—that is to say, it opened in what had previously been Macchialina’s home, at 820 Alton Road in Miami Beach. Macchialina, which then moved into an upsized space next door, is staying open along with Bar Bucce, says coverage published by the Miami Herald.

“What started as ‘the little restaurant that wouldn’t quit’ turned into a 5,600-square foot expansion with a newfound opportunity to build on our roots and bring Fluke to life,” Chef Mike Pirolo said back in May, in a statement quoted by the Herald.

Fluke’s menu of Crudos & Mains included dishes like the Fluke (Tomato Guazzetto, baby caponata, basil), Madai (Salmoriglio, plum vinaigrette, Thai chili), and Seafood Platter (6 oysters, 2 crudo [scallop & bluefin], shrimp cocktail, fritto misto [with marinara & artichoke remoulade], fried mussels).

That was alongside six different martinis, plus a selection of other cocktails.

What Now reached out to Chef Pirolo on Wednesday to ask about plans for the reopening. When Fluke launches once again on November 5, can we expect any updates to the menu, for example? We’ll have to wait and see.
