Located on Old Cutler Road, near the intersection with Southwest 92nd Avenue, Old Cutler Town Center looks to be about to welcome Volcanic Sushi + Sake into its food and drink community. Plan review paperwork submitted by Volcanic Sushi + Sake Corp shows the restaurant opening at 20525 Old Cutler Road.

Volcanic Sushi + Sake, “the home of the 3 time winner of Iron Chef of Greater Gainesville” has two locations in its Gainesville hometown. A recent Instagram post revealed that the brand is at work on a new location in the Miami market, with an opening date still TBA.

“Standing on the core values of professionalism, integrity, and quality, we only use fresh and healthy ingredients that impart a unique and unmatched flavor to our dishes,” says the Volcanic website. “It is our vision to become the most dominant Asian restaurant in the world by providing outstanding innovative quality food, exceptional service and ensure cleanliness in each of our [stores] so we can provide an exquisite and memorable dining experience.”

Volcanic offers a sizable selection of sushi rolls, including the Miami (Salmon, cucumber, avocado, Krab, cream cheese and masago), the Volcanic (Avocado, krab stick, steamed shrimp rolled in soy paper with tuna tartare on top), and the Where’s Wally (Salmon, krab, cream cheese, shrimp and panko fried topped with baked seafood, yum yum sauce, eel sauce, Wally’s special sauce, scallions and masago).

Entrees include Teriyaki (with beef, chicken, shrimp, pork, tofu, or salmon), Duck Curry, and the Volcanic: Grilled meat served on a bed of stir-fried mixed vegetables on a sizzling plate drizzled with teriyaki sauce on top, served with beef, chicken, shrimp, or salmon.

What Now reached out on Monday to co-owner Nestor Espartero on Monday to inquire about plans for a South Florida Volcanic Suhsi + Sake location. Espartero was not immediately available for comment.
