Helmed by Chef Niven Patel and restaurateur Mohamed Alkassar, Alpareno Restaurant Group appears to be opening a new outpost of its Ghee Indian Kitchen brand. A plan review submitted recently by Ghee Restaurant II LLC shows a new Ghee location opening at 70 NW 25th Street #5.
“Ghee puts seasonal and contemporary spins on traditional Indian fare,” reads a description on the Alpareno Restaurant Group website. Ghee, a clarified butter that originated in Ancient India, means ‘pure,’ a philosophy that is carried through the warm and hospitable dining room. With an intent to bring home-cooking to a restaurant setting, the menu focuses on long-prep creations. Ghee’s culinary excellence earned it three semi-finalist nominations for the James Beard award.”
The Downtown Dadeland location’s dinner menu includes curries like Smoked Lamb Neck (Smoked lamb shank served in a tomato, cardamom and black eyed pea broth), Turmeric Marinate Fish (Marinated in turmeric, pan seared and served in a creamy coconut curry with curry leaves, and vegetables), Beef Korma, and Kerala Lamb (Roasted lamb, tomato, and coconut milk).
What Now reached out to Mohamed Alkassar on Thursday to inquire about plans for a new Ghee location. Alkassar was not immediately available for comment.
