Founded in Virginia, Nashville-style hot chicken chain Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken is growing fast, with locations operating or under development in 17 states, along with two international locations. As the brand expands its footprint in South Florida, it appears to be preparing to open a new location in Tamarac, at 5705 N University Drive.

“Welcome to Hangry Joe’s, the rapidly-growing Nashville-style chicken franchise with presence from the East to the West Coast as well as Dubai and Korea,” says the Hangry Joe’s website’s About Us page. “Featuring the signature Nashville-style chicken sandwich, our premise is simple: to offer our customers the best chicken sandwich in town and an unforgettable experience to enjoy with friends and family.”

Plan review paperwork showing a new Hangry Joe’s opening in the North University Drive location was submitted by South Florida Sando Midway. Behind it are franchisees Alexander Gavilla, Anthony Barberio, and Juan Carlos Chanquin.

The 5707 N University Drive location is part of Midway Plaza, a shopping center anchored by a Publix Super Market. It’s also home to restaurants like Golden Krust Caribbean, La Granja, and La Antioqueña Café & Restaurant.
