Grupo Ikigai, the hospitality brand behind some of Mexico City’s most celebrated restaurants, is expanding its footprint with the launch of Ikigai, a new Japanese restaurant in the heart of Brickell Key.

Blending traditional Japanese craftsmanship with a modern approach, Ikigai specializes in authentic nigiri, makis, sashimis, temaki and signature dishes like tempura, soups and gyozas, all prepared using time-honored techniques. Signature dishes such as the “White Fish Tiradito,” “Hamachi Serrano,” “Rib Eye Udon,” “Shrimp Gyozas” and the “Nigiri Omakase Experience” change daily based on the freshest selections. Committed to excellence, Ikigai sources the finest ingredients from across the globe, with the finest seafood flown in fresh daily from Japan, New Zealand, Chile, Mexico, the U.S. and Europe.

“We are dedicated to preserving the authenticity of Japanese cuisine while creating an inviting space where guests can enjoy exceptional flavors and hospitality,” said Juan Jose Xacur, Founder of Grupo Ikigai in a statement.  “At Ikigai, we believe in offering an honest restaurant experience that delivers great quality, excellent service and fair prices. We want our guests to return week after week knowing they will always find exceptional food and service as well as weekly specials.”

At the helm of Ikigai’s kitchen is Chef and Partner Ignacio Carmona, who trained in Japan and has over 30 years of experience. He has led some of the most recognized Japanese restaurants in Mexico. Now, with Ikigai, he continues to push the boundaries of Japanese gastronomy, creating an immersive experience that honors both tradition and innovation. Chef Carmona brings an unparalleled gastronomic experience to Brickell’s dining scene.

With interiors designed by architectural firm Sala Hars, Ikigai’s design reflects the brand’s commitment to sophistication and simplicity. Furnishings from La Metropolitana provide a serene ambiance that enhances the dining experience.

“Our philosophy is deeply rooted in the Japanese concept of ‘ikigai,’ which translates to ‘reason for being.’ We aim to bring this philosophy to life through exceptional food, service and commitment to sustainability,” said Xacur. “If you do what you love, what you’re good at, what the world needs and are also compensated for it, you have found your Ikigai.”

Founded with an original vision of opening just one restaurant and passion project, Grupo Ikigai has grown into a culinary powerhouse, operating 12 restaurants across Mexico, including five Japanese restaurants, four Italian concepts, one Mediterranean restaurant and a café-bistro, Amand, which they recently opened in Brickell Key. The launch of Ikigai marks an exciting milestone as the brand introduces its flagship concept, which brings a signature blend of authenticity and quality to the U.S. market.

Ikigai is now open at 615 Brickell Key Dr, Miami, FL 33131, and welcomes guests for lunch, dinner and special celebrations. The restaurant also provides a 2-hour parking validation.
