Founded by CEO Matt McKenna in 2016, Imperial Moto Café is “Miami’s original moto-inspired cafe, specialty coffee roaster, and lifestyle brand,” with locations on Second Avenue in Miami and in the landmark Aventura Mall. Now Imperial Moto is revving up its engines as it prepares to embark on a third outpost, this time in Oakland Park, where submitted plan review documents shows a new location opening at 2091 E Oakland Park Blvd.

“Imperial Moto Coffee’s blends are expertly crafted to deliver balanced, consistent flavors in every cup,” says the Imperial Moto website. “By combining the best beans from various regions, we create unique profiles that are both complex and approachable. Our blends are designed to highlight the strengths of each origin, resulting in smooth, versatile coffees that can be enjoyed any time of day.”

Imperial Moto’s most popular beans include the Miami Blend—a medium roast with notes of caramel, milk chocolate, and red berries—and the Dark Horse blend—a medium dark roast with notes of dark chocolate, panela, and milk caramel. There’s also lots of merch: hats, gloves, apparel, and more.

“In 2016, I embarked on a journey that combined two of my greatest passions: vintage motorcycles and specialty coffee,” says a message from Matt McKenna on the Imperial Moto website. “What began as a vision to create a lifestyle brand and custom motorcycle builder quickly evolved into something much more meaningful. The idea of Imperial Moto was born from a desire to bring together a community of like-minded enthusiasts who appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship behind both motorcycles and coffee.”
