New York-based vegan Mexican street food chain Jajaja Mexicana is looking to open its first location outside NYC in Wynwood. According to coverage in the South Florida Business Journal, the brand put plans before the Wynwood Design Review Committee earlier this month. The location would open at 2775 NW Third Ave.
Described on its website as “a patchwork of culture, community, and comida threading plant-based eaters to the Mexican palate,” the brand offers a selection of vegan street foods, tequila- and mezcal-focused drinks, and weekend brunch.
On the West Village location’s menu, starters include Mole Tamal (corn masa, daring chicken, sour cream, scallions) and Hijiki-Hearts of Palm Ceviche (jalapeño, hijiki seaweed, red pepper, cilantro, cherry tomato avocado). Jajaja’s Specialties include Gorditas, a vegan Chorizo Burrito, and Verde Enchiladas with green tomato, serrano, palm carnitas, coconut queso, and Spanish rice. Street tacos are also on offer, with plant-based flavors like Pollo Coco, Palm Carnitas, Chipotle Sweet Potato, and Buffalo Flower.
The location in question is situated on Northwest Third Avenue, across from the Wynwood Building, between Northwest 28th Street and Northwest 27th Terrace. Nearby eateries include MIAM Cafe, Balagan Sushi Nikkei, and Dharma Miami.
What Now reached out to Jajaja co-owner Nima Garos earlier this week. Garos declined to comment on the news.
