With locations in Florida, New York, Panama, and Spain, fast-casual chain Los Verdes is preparing to expand its South Florida footprint with a new location headed to Hialeah. Submitted plan review paperwork shows a new Los Verdes opening at 2470 W 60th Street, in El Mercado Shopping Center.

The chain’s menus have featured a variety of fast food favorites, including Hamburguesas Famosas in varieties like the Hawaiana and the BBQ Burger. There are Quesadillas topped with Queso, Pollo, Carne, or a mix; a variety of Perros Calientes (like the Chori Perro with chorizo); and arepas in varieties like Carne Desmechada (shredded beef & mozzarella cheese) and Chicharron (fried pork belly and mozzarella cheese).

“We’re trying to do more gourmet food,” franchisee Andres Arteaga told What Now on Thursday. “When we talk about fast food, people think about garbage food. But we’re using Angus beef, fresh ingredients, artisanal whole-wheat bread.”

El Mercado, the shopping center where the new Los Verdes location will open, is situated on the southwest corner of West 24th Avenue and West 60th Street. Anchored by a Publix Super Market, El Mercado is also home to food and drink concepts like Pollo Tropical and Little Caesars.
