It was only in October of 2023 that What Now first reported on plans by New York-born French-style cafe chain Maman Cafe to make its debut in South Florida. The launch was expected to be big, but in fact it’s been bigger than big. That new broke not even two years ago, and already there are seven Maman locations operating in South Florida.
And there’s no telling where this expansion might end, because now the company has submitted plan review paperwork for a new location near the Aventura Mall, at 2747 NE 193rd St.
Maman’s menus tend to vary by location, which means some surprises are likely to be in store at any new outpost. But a quick look at the menu for the Coral Gables location shows a variety of breakfast-friendly cafe classics: a Daily Quiche, an assortment of pastries, omelettes, and a smashed avocado tartine, to name a few items. There are also sandwiches like Andrea’s Everything Croissant & Salmon Sandwich, Bella’s Ham & Cheese Croissant Sandwich, and the Croque Maman (Parisian ham, comté cheese & homemade béchamel on seeded sourdough).
“On any given day of the week, Maman welcomes sleepy New Yorkers, local celebrities, moms-on-the-go, business partners, and friends into one of our many locations,” says the Maman website. “Greeted by the scent of culinary splendor that wafts through the space, our guests step into an experience that engages all of the senses: rustic décor at every turn, the aroma and comfort of cuisines inspired by family traditions, and the highest quality ingredients.”
Opening in the 193rd Street location, Maman would join a community of restaurants situated near the Aventura Mall, one that includes the rather similarly named Mama Pizza & Coffee Shop, along with Dano’s Cafeteria, Etzel Itzik Deli, and others.
