Maman, the New York-based bakery-turned-lifestyle brand, is expanding its South Florida presence.
The bakery has opened several locations in the Miami area and West Palm Beach in the past months including Brickell, Aventura, and City Place. Now it’s filling the gap between the two cities by opening a location in Boca Raton.
The shop will open at 9789 Glades Road, as part of the Shadowood Revitalization. EDENS, a national retail and mixed-use real estate owner, operator and developer, purchased the property in 2023 and is planning major site improvements and new retail encompassing 109,887 square feet of new and renovated retail space. The planned completion will take months and is expected in 2026 or even 2027. No opening date for Maman has been announced at this time.
Maman will join other heavy hitters such as Joe & the Juice, Blo Blow Dry Bar, J Crew, Dave’s Hot Chicken, and Nomu Sushi & Pub. The revitalization plans also include brightened facades, paseos, public art, and outdoor seating, according to a press release.
In 2014, Elisa Marshall and Benjamin Sormonte opened a small cafe in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood, naming it after the French word for “mother”. They served pastries and dishes inspired by the South of France.
Slightly more than a decade later, there are almost 40 locations throughout New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Florida, Ontario, Quebec, and Washington, D.C., and the shop has grown into a lifestyle brand. Maman also offers branded gifts including a cookbook, cookies, and items in collaboration with Martha Stewart.
