McDonald’s is opening a brand new location in Homestead.

Mc Donald’s Corporation has filed permit applications with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to open a restaurant at 500 S Krome Avenue in Homestead. This key location places the new restaurant right at the end of the Florida Turnpike, a crossroads for travelers driving down to the Florida Keys. No opening date has been set.

McDonald’s was founded by Richard and Maurice McDonald in 1940 in San Bernadino, California. In the 1950s, Ray Kroc joined the company, growing it into a fast food giant. Currently, there are more than 40,000 McDonald’s restaurants in more than 100 countries, making it the world’s largest fast food chain.

The company continues to stay in the public zeitgeist and is an international hit for its value-driven food, consistency, and quality. In April 2026, the company plans on launching a “McValue 2.0” menu that will sell inflation-busting items like a four-piece McNuggets order and a sausage biscuit for $3 each. A breakfast combo that includes a McMuffin, hashbrowns, and coffee will cost an affordable $4.
