Word has been out for a few years that James Beard Award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein is at work on a reopening for her Miami Design District-born upscale restaurant Sra. Martinez. Earlier this year, the South Florida Business Journal reported on a reopening planned for Coral Gables, at 2325 Galiano Street.

A plan review was submitted by SRA Coral Gables Restaurant LLC for a restaurant at that address.

“Get ready, Coral Gables!” says a recent Instagram post by the restaurant. “We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming arrival of a new culinary gem, a modern twist on the beloved and award-winning Sra. Martinez! Brought to you by the dynamic hospitality power duo, James Beard Award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein and David Martinez.”

A representative told What Now that a more formal announcement is yet to come.

And what about the food?

“The cuisine will be rooted in Spain with influences from chef’s global adventures, with a large portion of the menu crafted in a giant wood-burning oven,” the Instagram post continues. “Expect an elevated cocktail program, a vibrant bar scene, and nightly entertainment to keep the energy high!”
