Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza, the Miami-based chain that specializes in pizzas made with fresh ingredients, is opening a location in Plantation.

The restaurant’s franchisee, Mister Plantation, LLC, has filed permit applications with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) to open a restaurant at the former Mustard Seed Bistro location at 256 S University Drive. No opening date has been announced at this time.

Italian chef Renato Viola opened the first Mister O1 in Miami Beach, naming his restaurant after the O-1 Visa Viola was granted for  his “extraordinary ability”. That visa allowed Viola to move to the United States and open his pizza restaurant. Viola’s pizzas gained popularity for their thin crusts, made with a 72-hour fermented dough and high quality toppings. This attention to detail earned the original location a place in the Florida Michelin Guide.

Mister O1 is best known for its signature star-shaped pizzas and sweet dessert pizzas topped with Nutella and fruit. The restaurant also offers gluten-free dough and vegan cheeses to accommodate many dietary preferences.

Mister O1 has grown from that single Miami Beach restaurant into a formidable local chain, with locations throughout South Florida. The chain has also opened restaurants in Texas and Georgia with plans for more to come.
