A new jazz bar and cocktail hideaway is working toward an opening in Lauderhill. Hiyde, a new cocktail bar offering a place to “Come HIŶDE away in an oasis of artistic thrills, Jazz, R&B, Poetry & More!” will open at 1828 NW 38th Avenue.

“We wanted to do something original,” Tory, who owns Hiyde, told What Now on Thursday. “It’s not going to be extremely loud. We want it to be a place where people can come and relax: not something with a lot of hype. Something that’s comfortable.”

The Hiyde space will feature lounge-style seating and a relaxed atmosphere. The food and drink focus will be on cocktails, and there will also be a selection of small bites. It will be a venue for a variety of live music and other performances, with a particular focus on supporting local artists.

“We’re making it as homey as possible,” Tory said. “We’ll try to provide a place where local artists will be able to find an audience.”
