Eater Miami first reported on plans for an outpost of Pastis—the famous New York City restaurant offering French cuisine for what will soon approach two decades—to open in Wynwood back in 2021. Eater then described Miami as a hotspot for popular New York City eateries, and the trend of New York restaurant migration to South Florida has definitely not died out since.

“For the last few years, I’ve had my eye on Wynwood. I’ve witnessed the vibrant and artistic neighborhood transform into a booming cultural hub with an incredible dining scene. People want great food, energy, and a great location; Pastis Miami will be a perfect addition to the community,” James Beard Award-Winning restaurateur Stephen Starr told Eater at the time. “Since opening my first South Florida restaurant in 2009, I’ve watched the culinary scene explode in this amazing high-energy region – I’m thrilled to be a part of its growth and success over 12 years later.”

The restaurant made the Miami New Times list of ten most anticipated restaurant openings in 2023. The New Times describes “a menu that covers brunch, lunch, and dinner and highlights traditional French fare with signature offerings like garlic and parsley-seasoned escargot, moules frites, and steak sandwiches topped with caramelized onions and melted Gruyère.”

What Now reached out to Stephen Starr on Wednesday. Starr declined to comment on Pastis’s arrival in Miami this year.
