The building at 889 Foster Road in Hallandale Beach will soon be home to a new restaurant serving food from cuisines around the globe. Called Poochellos Savory Soul, it’s a restaurant that offers “spiritual nourishment for the soul and for the body,” co-owner Fred Carswell told What Now on Thursday.
“We’re going to be serving global cuisine; we want to reach out to all cultures,” Carswell said. “Our main dishes are loaded potatoes, magnificent pastas, and wonderful soul food like fried turkey wings. Our concept was developed from my grandmother’s recipes.”
Food has been a family business, said Carswell, who owned a restaurant some years ago and has been honing recipes ever since.
“It’s a spiritual journey that I’ve been on,” Carswell said. “We’re in a CRE development zone. This was a dilapidated building that we fixed up ourselves.”
The space features seating for several guests, with the expectation of lots of takeout orders, decorated with expressive art.
“We’ll also have fresh juices, holistic health food,” Carswell said. “And great subs, with each sub named after a city in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.”
Keep an eye out for the opening celebration: we’re told the mayor will be there!
