Pupusatime, a long standing Hollywood gem for its Salvadoran favorites, is planning a second location.

The restaurant, under Pupusatime, LLC, has filed permit applications with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to open a restaurant at 1114 North State Road 7 in Hollywood. An opening date has not been announced. Run by Hugo Miranda and Maria Perez, Pupusatime specializes in authentic Salvadoran dishes.

The restaurant pays tribute to the rich flavors of El Salvador, a cuisine that reflects its culture with indigenous and Spanish influences. Meals are generally simple yet flavorful with corn, beans, rice, pork, chicken, yuca, plantains, cabbage, and cheese the most utilized ingredients.

Pupusatime serves tamales Salvadoreños, pan con pollo (bread stuffed with chicken), birria and pork tacos, yuca, and more. Its specialty, of course, are pupusas — the national dish of El Savador. Here, fresh corn tortillas are stuffed with cheese, mushrooms, beef, chicken, pork, and more. The restaurant also offers horchata and atol de eote — a corn-based drink.  In a city that is increasingly expensive, Pupusatime’s prices are as appetizing as its meals, with pupusas starting at just $4.

The food, lovingly made with family recipes, is served in a comfortable setting that feels like you’re being invited into someone’s home.
