Locally-owned smoothie and salad shop, Purple Orchid, is expanding its footprint.

The smoothie bar will open a Miami Shores location at 11720 NE Second Avenue by spring of 2026. The juice bar is also opening a private location in Kendall’s Town & Country area that will serve corporate tenants only (not open to the public), in early 2026.

The shop, owned by Sara Aqudelo Acosta, was founded in 2015 as a way to offer healthful food to South Florida. Today, there are Purple Orchid locations at the Wells Fargo Center in Miami, and at several major hospitals and health centers across South Florida including South Miami Baptist Hospital, Hollywood Memorial Regional Hospital, Pembroke Pines Memorial West, Pembroke Pines Cancer Institute, and Pembroke Pines’ Medical Office Building.

Purple Orchid’s smoothies include signature blends like the Purple Orchid with blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, cranberries, milk, and Greek yogurt; and the Miami Dragon with dragon fruit, bananas, mango, coconut, and sweetened coconut cream. There are a host of salads to choose from, and customers can even make their own creation by choosing a base, vegetables, a premium ingredient, and dressing of their own. The shop also offers acai bowls, pressed juices, wraps, lunch bowls, empanadas, croissants, and pastries. Purple Orchid also caters events and fundraisers.
