Sawgrass Promenade, a retail center located near the intersection of South Military Trail and Southwest Tenth Street, will soon be home to Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard. The Deerfield Beach shopping center location is the first from new Rita’s franchisees Andre Davis and George Sapirstein.

“The reason we’re opening the place is that we’re customers,” Davis told What Now on Saturday. “It’s a tremendous product. We think we have something here that’s completely different.”

Rita’s rotating Italian ice menu boasts more than 80 different flavors, and the ices are always made with fresh fruit, daily, in-house. Available as concretes with a variety of toppings, Rita’s frozen custards also boast more flavors than the usual chocolate and vanilla options: Davis lists Butter Pecan, Chocolate Chip Mint, Orange Cream, and Salted Caramel as a few favorites.

To top it off, all these can be combined as a Blendini, which mixes Italian ice, frozen custard, and mix-ins like Reese Peanut Butter Cups, Oreo Cookies pieces, and Snickers.

Opening at 1305 S Military Trail, the Deerfield Beach location will feature 6-8 interior seats, plus a walk-up window and additional outdoor seating. It’s working toward an opening on June 15, and it’s only the first outpost from new franchisees. Davis says there are several more to come.

Davis and Sapirstein also bring to the table a strong focus on the community. Davis says the franchisees are already looking at ways to get involved locally, working with nearby hospitals and other institutions.

“We’re just trying to get into the community and help out the communities we’re serving,” said Davis.
