Located at 1800 SE 32nd Street in Fort Lauderdale, general store Seafarers’ House will soon be home to a new cafe and restaurant. Seafarers’ House Cafe by Big Chef will offer a menu co-owner Rosana Santos calls “nutritious, casual, and flavorful.”
“The Seafarer cafe will have breakfast, lunch, and happy hour,” Santos told What Now on Wednesday. It will open in a space at Seafarers’ House that can seat 76 guests, with additional seating outside.
Santos is a co-owner of Big Chef, a local event-catering concern. “Big Chef is a health conscious food company since 1999,” says the Big Chef website. “A food solution for all get-togethers.”
Seafarers’ House Cafe by Big Chef represents a branching out for Big Chef and will feature an all-new menu. Santos says that menu is still under development, but it can be expected to have an international flare.
“This is South Florida, so it’s a melting pot,” Santos said.
“90% of everything we use in our daily lives comes to us through the hard work of seafarers,” says the Seafarers’ House website. “Seafarers’ House at Port Everglades is open throughout the year as a safe, welcoming place where mariners can connect with their communities and families, seek guidance and get emergency help if needed.”
In addition to the upcoming cafe, Seafarers’ House serves the community as a general store, meeting space, chapel, and more.
