A new restaurant offering breakfast and lunch is preparing to open in Fort Lauderdale. SoHo Kitchen will open at 3020 N Federal Highway #13, in Plaza 3000, a retail center near the intersection with East Oakland Park Boulevard.

Described on its website as a “modern breakfast and lunch cafe,” SoHo Kitchen is expected to open sometime this spring, joining restaurants like Lotus Chinese Kitchen and The Mason Jar Cafe.

“My inspiration came from watching my father working in the industry making soups and sauces way back in 1977 at Parkview diner in Upper Manhattan, and although I hold a finance degree, my passion has always been in the restaurant world,” owner Andrew Pirgousis told What Now in an email conversation.

Pirgousis hails from New York, where he grew up working at his father’s restaurant. Eventually, he came to own and operate restaurants like Silver Spurs and Molcajete Taqueria—both in Manhattan‘s SoHo neighborhood.

“Picking Fort Lauderdale for SoHoKitchen came by coincidence years ago on vacation with my family,” says Pirgousis, who remembers “absolutely loving this city,” and is now a Fort Lauderdale resident.

The menu at SoHo Kitchen will feature “your good old American Breakfast, pressed sandwiches, salads, and of course our well-known 10oz Burger and the house specialties.” Those house specialities include Steak ‘N Eggs (tortilla chips tossed in salsa verde, prime skirt steak, 2 eggs over, topped cotija queso, crema, and pickled red onion) and the Thompson Burger (10oz beef burger, gouda, sautéed mushrooms, onions, SK sauce on a Brioche bun).

“We will also have a full coffee bar and [are] working towards getting a beer and wine license.”

Pirgousis says SoHo Kitchen is working toward an opening this spring.
