Founded in Tampa, up-and-coming boba concept Midtown Boba is expanding its presence in the Miami market, where it already has its second location, at 18 SW Eighth Street. The franchise is preparing to launch its third location, a flagship for the market, in Wynwood, at 2808 NW Second Ave.

“We’re wrapping up the final touches now,” Ben Njaravelil, the franchisee behind the Wynwood location, told What Now on Thursday.

For Njaravelil, the journey towards becoming a franchisee started with a visit to the brand’s Tampa location. Back in Miami, in the city proper, Njaravelil felt the absence of good boba tea, despite the growing popularity of boba chains in the city’s suburbs.

“I tried everything, and this is just the best quality that there is. Everything is handmade fresh daily.”

For its Wynwood flagship, the brand will also be rolling out an ice cream selection. What can we expect there? What Now asked.

“It’s going to be all artisanal ice cream: a small menu with rotating, very unique flavors. So there’s something new every time you come in.”

As Wynwood’s Midtown Boba finishes up construction, it’s also getting in contact with local artists for a mural to enliven the building’s façade. Curious boba (and art) lovers are encouraged to check out the mural’s progress as July advances. Midtown Boba is working toward a launch near the end of the month.
