Founded in 1989 by two friends, restaurateur Mark Soyka and real estate developer Tony Goldman, News Cafe closed suddenly at the beginning of 2021. Before long it, it was reported that the cafe would reopen in its original location at the recently renamed Tony Hotel in May of last year. Ultimately, however, a 2022 reopening failed to eventuate.
The News Cafe reopening is still very much in the works, however. The restaurant made the Miami New Times’ list of Ten Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings in 2023.
What Now reached out to Matias Pesce, CEO of Vida & Estilo Restaurant Group, for an update. Pesce declined to provide information on News Cafe’s opening date, so for the moment we will have to rest in the knowledge that it’s on its way.
