Located on the southeast corner of the intersection between South Dixie Highway and Southwest 184th Street, Cutler Bay South Dade Shopping Center is the future home of a new Tropical Smoothie Cafe. The chain is hugely popular, boasting more than 1489 locations, with more than 200 in Florida alone (and that’s as of this time last year!).

“We’re looking to open probably in the late 3rd quarter,” franchisee Howard Raphael told What Now on Wednesday.

Raphael has been a Tropical Smoothie Cafe franchisee since 2008, when he introduced the brand to Raleigh, North Carolina. He’s been growing concept ever since: the Cutler Bay location is his group’s second location in Florida and, by the time of its opening, is expected to be its the tenth overall. Spice QSR also franchises Einstein Bros. Bagels.

The location in question, currently a Subway, will be modified to in a Tropical Smoothie Cafe in the coming months, Raphael said.

“It’s in a busy shopping center with a Publix and a lot of other great co-tenants, multiple big brands,” Raphael said. “It’s a great, dense, busy shopping center, and we think it’ll do really well.”

You probably know Tropical Smoothie Cafe for its famous smoothies, but Raphael says the brand has also been getting attention for it’s acai bowls and its food menu.

“People are surprised how good our food tastes. We’ve really been focusing on our acai bowls and other bowl offerings, plus our sandwiches and flatbreads like the Chipotle Chicken.”
