Begun as a New York City ice cream truck back in 2008 “with a mission to make good ice cream that makes you feel good,” Van Leeuwen Ice Cream has grown to encompass more than 70 stores nationwide. And there’s good reason for its popularity.

“Nowadays,” explains the Van Leeuwen website’s Our Story page, “people can spend so much time on what’s ‘healthy’ they don’t stop to consider what’s healthy. As far as we’re concerned, happiness is healthiness.”

Which is to say, relax a bit. The good life probably includes ice cream. And it’s hard to disagree with that.

As Van Leeuwen continues to expand, South Florida is next on the menu. After finding plan review paperwork showing a Van Leeuwen Ice Cream shop planned at 870 N Railroad Ave in West Palm Beach, What Now reached out to representatives of the company to inquire about the plans for the launch. The representatives confirmed news of an expansion to Florida but declined to share details regarding a timeline for launch.

“Coming Soon” is thus all we know for now. That’s the when, anyway. But what about the what?

The what is a hugely popular slate of ice cream flavors ranging from Marionberry Cheesecake to Hazelnut Fudge Cookie, to Praline Butter Cake, to Earl Gray Tea. Van Leeuwen is also known for its wide variety of vegan ice cream choices, bringing some of that happiness to everybody.
