Bambino, the latest project from JEGantic, a hospitality group founded in 2005, still looks interested in opening in Montreal’s Old Port neighborhood.

Not much information has been made available regarding this new restaurant, including if and when it will open. The concept was technically announced in 2022. What is known is that Bambino will be an Italian concept that will feature a cafe, restaurant, and bar, according to the company’s social media. While JEGantic hasn’t officially announced this concept, John E. Gumbley, President & Founder of JEGantic, and Andrew Bambino, Co-owner and executive chef, have both mentioned the concept on their social media.

JEGantic strives to set a new standard in hospitality by building each venue from the ground up with award-winning quality and service. Inspired by global travel, their projects focus on creating unique, immersive experiences, carefully designing every detail, from décor and menus to cutlery and drinks, to transport guests to a specific place or moment.

Andrew Bambino, known as Andrew Ba, brings over 15 years of experience working in Montreal’s busiest and trendiest kitchens, including Mediterraneo, Kabana, and Bord’elle. At Bord’elle, he played a key role in expanding the dinner service while maintaining high standards of food quality and efficiency. Today, Andrew oversees all culinary operations at JEGantic, including new projects like The Farsides.

JEGantic’s portfolio includes a diverse range of venues such as Boa Vida Yacht Club, Bord’elle, The Farsides, Hang, and Yoko Luna, each known for delivering thoughtfully crafted and memorable hospitality experiences. The group is also recognized for giving back to the Montreal community through partnerships with local nonprofits and its annual Christmas toy drive.

While details on Ristorante Bambino’s opening remain limited and the timeline is unclear, excitement is growing for the new Italian restaurant, which is expected to become a standout destination in Montreal’s Vieux-Port once it launches.
