Chez Bébé, a Quebec-style fast-food restaurant known for poutine and classic fast-food offerings, is preparing to modernize its Jonquière location at 2110 Ste-Famille Street.
The Jonquière restaurant will undergo a full remodel sometime in 2026, according to Informe Affaires. The renovation is part of a broader growth strategy that includes expanding the production of Chez Bébé’s signature poutine sauces. Owner Michel de Montigny said the company is shifting production from in-house to the regional Fabricca facility to keep up with demand, with about 100 3.5-liter boilers produced weekly. Customers can expect a refreshed dining space and the continued availability of the restaurant’s classic menu items.
Chez Bébé first began selling its poutine sauce in jars about a year ago, initially offering 1,500 units exclusively at its restaurants. The new glass jars extend shelf life to 300 days, compared with the previous plastic containers, which lasted only a few days. The company plans to expand distribution to grocery stores, convenience stores, and other regional outlets while maintaining a focus on local partnerships.
Chez Bébé was founded in the early 1970s by Fernand Guérin, nicknamed Bébé, who started selling fries and hot dogs from a food truck. The Jonquière location has operated under the current owners, Stéphanie Moreau and Michel de Montigny, since 2019, and a second location opened on Racine Street in Chicoutimi in 2021. The brand has grown steadily, balancing its long-standing menu with new products and services.
The Jonquière renovation is part of a multi-pronged approach to support rapid growth, which also includes website updates, production expansion, and distribution plans.
