Cin Cin Cafe, a new coffee concept from Vancouver-based Rocanini Coffee Roasters, is now in soft opening at 2250 Mont-Royal Avenue East in Montreal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal neighborhood.
The cafe takes over the former Cocooning Cafe space, which was listed for sale in late 2024, according to Silo57. The soft opening period will run from September 22 to 26, during which the team will test operations and engage with the local community. Owned by Rocanini Coffee Roasters, which is led by Founder Frank Rocanini, Cin Cin Cafe is expected to bring the same emphasis on premium coffee and hospitality that has defined the company’s Vancouver locations. An official opening date has yet to be announced for Cin Cin Cafe.
Rocanini currently operates three cafes in Vancouver and is recognized for its artisanal approach to coffee roasting and brewing. In addition to retail operations, the company provides wholesale coffee, barista training, and private tastings. The Montreal expansion represents its first foray outside of British Columbia.
The Plateau location is well-positioned to draw both locals and visitors, offering strong pedestrian traffic and a mix of residential and commercial activity. Rocanini’s entry into Montreal taps into the city’s strong cafe culture, which values craftsmanship, quality, and independent operators.
The cafe’s soft opening has included a limited menu and warm interactions with early visitors. Guests have been served house-roasted coffee and items such as homemade Kouign Amann, a traditional Breton pastry known for its caramelized layers.
Cin Cin Cafe will continue soft opening operations through late September before planning a full launch. The move reflects Rocanini’s broader goal of connecting coffee communities across Canada while maintaining a focus on quality and experience.
