A brand new ice cream shop called Crèmerie Chez Mamie is preparing to debut in Saint-Anselme before expanding throughout Southern Quebec.

This is the latest concept from The Abbatiello Group, which already operates Pizza Salvatoré and Topla! The group is partnering with Stéphanie Périgny to become the head of operations, with several locations already planned for 2025, according to Monlimoilou. While Périgny was already a franchisee of a Maître Glacier in Bromont, she has worked in the ice cream industry for 17 years. Crèmerie Chez Mamie will be the first concept entirely created by the Abbatiello brothers and sisters. Their goal is to make customers feel like they’re visiting grandma’s. The company plans to open its first location on April 1 in Saint-Anselme, followed by a second site in Quebec City in Old Limoilou on May 6.

“We saw the opportunity in Limoilou,” Elisabeth Abbatiello, Vice President of Communications and Outreach at Groupe Abbatiello, tells Monlimoilou. “It’s an area we know very well, a place we frequent a lot. We know that traffic is natural. There are lots of restaurants, people go for walks in the evening, and there’s a public space right next door. It’s called Chez Mamie, and what does Mamie do well? It’s impressing her grandchildren. Everything is always better at Mamie’s. Children always want to go to Mamie’s because it’s beautiful, it’s good, it’s sweet. Mamie, she knows how to coax them,”

This is just the beginning for the concept, as Crèmerie Chez Mamie is expected to open in Sherbrooke in 2025 and in Beauport on Seigneuriale Street. The Abbatiello Group aims to open around 100 Crèmerie Chez Mamie stores across Quebec in the coming years, and there is interest from potential franchisees. When the company announced this initiative last year, it received more than 680 franchise applications for Chez Mamie. However, before these prospective franchisees launch their locations, the concept must succeed in its initial stores. When Chez Mamie opens, customers can expect a variety of ice cream flavors and classic desserts, albeit a limited selection, to keep the offerings affordable for families.

“Good news! The very first [Crèmerie Chez Mamie] to open its doors in Quebec City will finally be the one on 1st Avenue, followed, a few weeks later, by the second branch on rue de la Canardière,” according to the company’s social media. “Our teams are already hard at work on the construction site to fit out this brand new space, which will adopt a window concept perfect for summer days. And since a good ice cream is even better enjoyed outside, we are also working on the development of an outdoor terrace, ideal for enjoying the nice weather with family or friends.”
